Baseline

So what is General Fitness and how is it obtained?  In a broad sense, general fitness means that you are able to display abilities in 10 physical fitness attributes individually, in different combinations, and under a variety of different stressors.
10 Physical Attributes:
Cardiovasular
​​Speed
Stamina
Coordination
Flexibility
Agility
Strength
Balance
Power
Accuracy
With Flex Fitness' programming, you will learn these 10 attributes, both directly and indirectly, through both Flex Fitness' teaching and your effort.   

Testing

Then these abilities will then be tested and improved by adding stressors to the movements, exercises, skills, and drills you will perform.  These stressors will come in the form of increased loads using band resistance, increased complexity, varied volume, different movement combinations, and different lengths of time for exercise.

Adapting

Please keep in mind that during this programming, you body will continually adapt.  It will create new lean muscle, get rid of excess body fat, increase blood and oxygen circulation, add new mind muscle connections, and much more.  As a result, learning, testing, and improving upon the 10 physical attributes are not mutually exclusive of each other but are constantly interchanging.  Therefore, what you learn and develop from a drill on Day 1 will likely be different from what you learn and develop from that same drill on Day 100 or Day 1000. 
What does this mean?  It means that general fitness is an ever changing and constantly progressing ride throughout your entire life full of ups and downs, personal bests and frustrating weaknesses... and Flex Fitness will be with you every step of the way.

Benefit

At Flex Fitness, we know that activities and events an pop-up without much forewarning.  For example, it's Wednesday and your friend asks you to to do a 14-mile hike in the Shenandoah Valley with him on Saturday.  You want to go but you don't have time to prepare your body to handle the physical demands of such a hike.  Your endurance may not be up to par and you have had an annoying knee pain for the past 6-months. 
Ready for the unplanned
With Flex Fitness OT, you would have obtained more than enough endurance to handle the hike and on top of that, the movement screenings, drills, and technique instruction would have reduced or eliminated that knee pain.
